(Yame, Japan) This lightly oxidized green oolong from our Yame garden is handcrafted experimentally. From the first spring harvest, it was made from the rare Sayamakaori cultivar, originally developed in Saitama, the fruit of the labor of the Saitama Prefecture Tea Experimental Station since 1958.
When steeped, it offers a fragrance of flowers reminiscent of lilac and lily of the valley, then evolves into notes of nutmeg, citrus, and a hint of nut. It offers a beautiful balance of umami and roundness, leaving a suave and sweet sensation in the mouth at the finish. It has all the classic notes of a good green oolong from ancestral regions, but also has its own distinct character. A very great vintage!
