This reserve grade Sencha Ashikubo Asamushi is considered to be the highest quality produced for this tea. From the first spring harvest, it comes from the famous Ashikubo Valley, the birthplace of tea in Shizuoka Prefecture. The leaves of this tea are traditionally dried over a wood fire (hika).
This results in a less vegetal and sweeter tea, with more fruity notes contrasted with roasted notes reminiscent of nuts and butter.
