(Kagoshima, Japan) This tea from Chiran, Kagoshima Prefecture, comes from the first harvest of spring. JAS certified, it is made from the Yabukita cultivar. This red-black tea, called Wakoucha, is a reserve grade tea highly prized in Japan.
When steeped, its reddish liquor offers a unique note of lilac blossom, apricot, and sweet potato, leaving a lovely sweet sensation in the mouth. This tea easily compares to grand cru English and Chinese teas - a must-try!
