Masters Series
Tamamitsu (玉光) refers to the renowned lineage of master craftsmen and the Gyokko Toen brand, based in Tokoname, Japan, one of the country's six ancient pottery towns. Led by the Umehara family, this pottery is globally recognized for its exceptional handmade clay teapots, known as kyusu. Key information about Tamamitsu pottery: The craftsmen: The Umehara family, notably the late Harutaka Umehara (certified traditional craftsman) and his son Hirotaka Umehara, craft these pieces. Clay and characteristics: Tamamitsu teapots are typically unglazed and made from iron-rich clays. The reaction of the iron with the tea's tannins softens astringency and enhances flavor.
