(Uji, Japan) This premium black tea, called Wakoucha, is highly prized and rare in Japan. It comes from the Kyoto Prefecture, from the first spring harvest. It was made from the rare "Samidori" cultivar, indigenous and unique to the Uji region.
When steeped, its reddish liquor offers notes of cocoa, sweet potato, date, molasses, a hint of cinnamon, with a malty finish. This tea can easily be compared to great English and Chinese vintages - a must-try!
