Eco-Friendly Blue Butterfly Pea Flower
Clitoria ternatea - Fabaceae - The Thai name, where it originates, is Senchan; in India, it is sometimes called "Gokarna" or Shankpushpi (this name is also given to a plant of the genus Convolvulus). The blue pea is very popular due to its ability to effectively color blue and because by changing the pH of the infusion, this blue can turn purple or pink.
Plants bearing the name "shankpushpi" indicate an ability to improve cognition. The modern term is "nootropic." The famous pigments are excellent for the health of blood vessels (blood capillaries) in the brain and kidneys.
Considered a kidney tonic due to its dark color, it is also considered a sexual tonic in Asia.
