Saitama Wakoucha | Sayamakaori Cultivar [Reserve Grade]

$5.50

Country: Japan

Region: Saitama Prefecture

Grade: Reserve, 1st spring harvest

(Saitama, Japan) This premium black tea, called Wakoucha, is highly prized and rare in Japan. It comes from the small Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, from the first spring harvest. It was made from the rare "Sayamakaori" cultivar; the fruit of the labor of the Yabukita cultivar development by the Saitama Prefecture Tea Experimental Station in 1958. The result offers a tea with more present and robust notes.

When brewed, its reddish liquor offers unique notes of lily of the valley flower, autumn fruits, sweet potato, cane sugar and molasses, as well as a touch of camphor. This tea compares without hesitation to the great English and Chinese vintages - a must!
