(Kagoshima, Japan) This red tea, called Wakoucha, comes from Chiran, Kagoshima Prefecture. From the first harvest of spring, it is made from the Yabukita cultivar. Highly prized in Japan, this tea was locally roasted by Master Han Le to bring it more dimensions.
When infused, it opens with bright and rich notes of grape, lychee and cocoa, then, on a second note, sweet potato and lily of the valley. It leaves a sweet sensation on the palate. This tea is comparable without hesitation to great English and Chinese vintages - a must-try!
